Hi AI Futurists,

Google just announced Veo 3, a powerful generative video model that can create over-a-minute-long 1080p clips from text prompts, complete with cinematic element and sounds. It's aimed at creatives but is technically impressive in how it handles consistency, motion, and editing, and is part of the new VideoFX suite. Let’s take a look.

AI video gets a massive upgrade

Google’s new AI video generator, Veo 3, just made its debut, and this time, it speaks. The upgraded model not only produces high-quality, minute-long 1080p videos from text prompts, but also generates synchronized audio, including dialogue, ambient noise, and even animal sounds. That sets it apart from rivals like OpenAI’s Sora, which remains video-only for now. Veo 3 is now available to U.S. users through Google’s $249.99/month Ultra plan, as well as enterprise users on Vertex AI. According to Google DeepMind VP Eli Collins, the system delivers “accurate lip syncing” and integrates both physics realism and narrative depth. You can explore the launch further here and here.

Veo 3 is part of Google’s broader I/O rollout, which also includes Imagen 4 (a new image generator), Lyria 2 (music generation), and a filmmaking assistant called Flow, available via Gemini, Whisk, and Workspace. These tools represent Google’s full-court press on generative media, just as OpenAI deals with GPU strain from skyrocketing demand for its own multimodal tools. Google’s visual AI history hasn’t been flawless (Imagen 3 faced backlash over factual errors), but Veo 3 seems like a more refined leap forward, especially as it now understands where to point the camera and what sounds should fill the scene.

Celebrities like Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) are already playing with it, which says something about its creative appeal. But the real signal here is less about Hollywood and more about access. Video and audio storytelling now sits a few prompts away from anyone with bandwidth and $250 a month. In an attention economy, this is more than a toy. It’s a power shift.

Takeaways at a glance

  • Veo 3 generates 1080p video + synchronized audio from text/image prompts

  • Includes accurate lip syncing, ambient noise, and character dialogue

  • Competes directly with OpenAI’s Sora (which lacks audio)

  • Available via Ultra subscription and Google’s Vertex AI

  • Unveiled alongside Imagen 4 (image generation), Flow (filmmaking assistant), and Lyria 2 (music gen)

What We Think About It:

  • Veo 3 changes the game by giving AI a voice, literally. Now you’re not just generating video; you’re telling stories with sights and sounds. It makes these clips feel more alive, more complete. This isn't just for filmmakers. It’s a tool for marketers, educators, creators, anyone with a message and a few words to start. Google’s not chasing trends here. They’re building the new baseline for creativity.

What You Can Do Right Now:

  • Join the Ultra plan waitlist if you're curious to try it firsthand. Or just start exploring what this kind of tool could unlock. How would you share an idea, explain something complex, or tell a story using only a few words? The real value might not be in what it does today, but in what it gets you thinking about tomorrow.

Would you pay $250/month for a video+audio AI content tool?
