If you need a refresher, Q* was a discovery that prompted OpenAI researchers to warn the board of an AI breakthrough before Sam was fired.
It was rumored that Q* could "threaten humanity.” And this is what Sam responded with: “we expect progress in this technology to continue to be rapid, and we also expect to continue to work very hard to figure out how to make it safe and beneficial.”
Altman said, “Without commenting on any specific thing or project or whatever, we believe that progress is research.”

Big Takeaway: Microsoft is making its largest investment ever in the UK, committing $3.2 billion. The plan over the next 3 years is to expand the UK’s AI capabilities.
The substantial funding will facilitate the buildout of additional data centers and infrastructure for developing and deploying sophisticated AI systems.
The announcement comes on the heels of initial concerns expressed by Microsoft regarding a previous UK regulatory ruling, which created uncertainty around future technology investments.
