Big Takeaway: “I hope you realize this is not a concert,” said Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang to his audience of over 15,000 people yesterday. In his return to an in-person keynote, he focused on AI advancements and next-generation technologies in hardware and software.
The main event was the introduction of Blackwell GPUs, boasting four times the training speed and thirty times the inference throughput compared to the H100 GPU, with the capability to scale up to 576 GPUs.
Nvidia also announced the GB200, featuring two Blackwell GPUs and one Grace Arm CPU, highlighting efficiency and potential cost reductions for data centers.

Big Takeaway: Apple researchers have unveiled MM1, a new multimodal AI with visual capabilities, challenging OpenAI’s GPT 4 and Google’s Gemini AI through advanced training and architecture.
MM1 combines visual and language understanding for advanced capabilities, using a Large Language Model (LLM) framework.
It was trained on a diverse dataset comprising 45% image-text pairs, 45% documents with images and text, and 10% text-only data.
The addition of Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) models improves MM1, allowing it to excel in few-shot learning for image captioning and visual question answering.

Elon Musk's AI company xAI has open-sourced the base code of its 314 billion-parameter Grok AI model on GitHub, licensed under the Apache License 2.0 for commercial use. However, xAI has not released the training code, claiming that Grok-1 (the language model) was trained on a custom stack without providing details.
Stability AI has released Stable Video 3D (SV3D), a generative AI model that can render 3D video from a single input image. Building upon its previous Stable Video technology for generating short videos, SV3D adapts the model for novel view synthesis and 3D generation capabilities.
According to Bloomberg, Apple is in negotiations to license Google's Gemini AI model so that iOS releases later this year can include generative AI features. Apple has considered utilizing OpenAI's GPT models, but since Google is Safari's default search engine, a partnership with them would offer them a competitive advantage.
