What’s new with NotebookLM?
Google has introduced new customization features for NotebookLM’s Audio Overviews, allowing users to better tailor the AI’s focus and expertise level to their needs. With the addition of a "Customize" button, users can now direct the AI hosts to prioritize certain topics or adjust the depth of discussion. It’s made for some very interesting “podcasts” so far.
This update makes it easier to get insights that are specifically aligned with user goals. Additionally, the update introduces background listening, enabling users to continue working in NotebookLM while listening to audio summaries, making multitasking smoother.
Alongside these features, Google also launched the NotebookLM Business pilot program, targeting organizations, universities, and enterprises. This new version will offer enhanced functionality through Google Workspace, with a focus on data privacy and security. Businesses can now apply for early access, gaining additional support and training.
With over 80,000 organizations already utilizing NotebookLM, Google continues to scale its reach. This blend of personal customization and broader business application signals an evolution in how AI tools can augment productivity, knowledge-sharing, and workflow management.
