GPUs are essential for training AI models like ChatGPT because of their efficiency in handling parallel processing tasks, which greatly accelerates model training and inference. Think of GPUs as the essential shovels in a gold rush where AI is the gold.
Meta also expects to have 600,000 total GPUs including Nvidia A100s and other AI chips, by year-end.
