🚨 Breaking AI News

Over the weekend, Google’s AI chatbot Bard got some big upgrades.
Here are the key new features:
It is now available in over 40 languages and in most parts of the world.
Bard can now listen to responses, adjust the tone or style, and share responses.
Multimodal, integrated with Google lens, Bard can decipher images and provide descriptions.
Pin conversations, export code and use images in prompts
Poll time! Do you think Bard can dethrone ChatGPT?

The Israel Defense Forces have started using AI to select targets for air strikes and organize wartime logistics, without transparency or oversight.
The image is of a system called “Fire Factory,” and it is an AI that gives targets to drones and planes for humans to approve. But the true details of the AI are kept secret by the government.
There are a handful of ethical concerns being raised about testing AI on people. Most believe AI should only be used for defense with strict human regulation to ensure we don’t have “killer robots.”

Daily Definition
Autonomous
'Autonomous' in the context of AI refers to the capability of a system or a machine to operate and perform tasks on its own, without explicit human intervention. It's about the self-governing behavior of machines, with the level of independence varying depending on the design and purpose of the system.
A prime example of autonomous technology is self-driving cars. These vehicles use a combination of sensors, algorithms, and machine learning to navigate and respond to changes in their environment without a human driver. In a more everyday context, think about robotic vacuum. It's autonomous because it can navigate a room, avoid obstacles, and clean floors with minimal human guidance.
However, it's important to understand that autonomous does not mean infallible. Autonomous systems, like all AI, are only as effective as the data they've been trained on and the algorithms they utilize. They can encounter situations they haven't been trained for and may not always react as expected.
