Big Takeaway: Google has agreed to invest up to $2 billion in Anthropic, the AI startup founded by former OpenAI executives, with $500 million upfront.
Anthropic developed Claude 2, a chatbot rival to ChatGPT used by companies like Slack, Notion, and Quora.
Claude 2 can summarize large amounts of text, up to 75,000 words, differentiating it from ChatGPT's 3,000-word limit.
Anthropic then quickly raised a $450 million round in May, the largest for an AI company since Microsoft's OpenAI investment.
