The Edge: OpenAI is rolling out new voice and image capabilities in ChatGPT for Plus and Enterprise users over the next two weeks. (Video demo here)
“Use your voice to engage in a back-and-forth conversation with ChatGPT. Speak with it on the go, request a bedtime story, or settle a dinner table debate.” - OpenAI
“Show ChatGPT one or more images. Troubleshoot why your grill won’t start, explore the contents of your fridge to plan a meal, or analyze a complex graph for work-related data.” - OpenAI
After Plus and Enterprise, capabilities will roll out to other users, like developers, to expand access to voice and images responsibly.

The Edge: Amazon announced an investment of up to $4 billion into AI startup Anthropic, maker of Claude chatbot, fueling the AI arms race.
The deal gives Amazon minority ownership in Anthropic and access to its tech. Anthropic will leverage Amazon's chips and AWS cloud infrastructure to build and deploy future models.
Though it’s smaller than Microsoft's $13B investment in OpenAI earlier this year, it shows Amazon is serious about generative AI.
If full $4B is invested, it would be AWS' largest known investment related to its cloud platform.
