McKinsey released another report on AI, this time detailing the impact of AI on the American job market. Here are the key findings:
McKinsey estimates that AI will not eliminate jobs overall through 2030, but it will change the mix of jobs and require retraining for many workers.
McKinsey estimates 12 million U.S. workers may need to switch careers by 2030 due to AI automation, 25% more than previously projected.
Jobs in healthcare, STEM, and technical fields are expected to see strong growth, while those in office support, customer service, and food service may decline.
AI automation could impact 30% of work hours by 2030, up from 22% with current tech.
Lower wage earners are most exposed to displacement from AI, but overall, McKinsey sees opportunities for workers to move into better paying roles with proper training.

Turing Test
The 'Turing Test,' named after the British mathematician Alan Turing, is a measure of a machine's ability to exhibit intelligent behavior equivalent to, or indistinguishable from, that of a human. Proposed by Turing in 1950, it remains one of the most influential concepts in the philosophy of artificial intelligence.
Imagine you're having a text conversation with two entities in separate chat rooms. One is a human, and the other is a machine, but you don't know which is which. If you can't reliably tell which one is the human and which one is the machine based on their responses, then the machine is said to have passed the Turing Test. It's essentially a test of a machine's ability to mimic human-like conversation.
It's important to understand that passing the Turing Test doesn't necessarily imply the machine understands the conversation, has thoughts, or experiences emotions. It simply means it's able to generate responses that are indistinguishable from those a human would make.
