The Edge: Amazon One uses palm biometrics for contactless transactions, but high accuracy requires lots of palm image data.
Amazon used generative AI to create millions of synthetic palm images. The synthetic data reflects subtle hand variations like illumination and poses.
Amazon One is being rolled out to more than 500 Whole Foods Market stores.
The system can also detect fake hands and reject them. With a trial of 3 million hands and recording a “99.9999%” accuracy. Watch the demo video here.

The Edge: DeepMind co-founder Mustafa Suleyman predicts everyone will have personal AI assistants within 5 years as the technology becomes cheaper.
He believes AI will intimately know users, understand their history, act as coaches and companions, and become their AI agent.
