The Edge: BeFake was created by Alias, an applied AI company focused on generative media and they’ve been gaining tracking all over Twitter
Users snap pics then alter them using presets or text prompts powered by Stable Diffusion, eliminating the pressure for validation on social media.
Founders will adapt the app quickly based on user feedback, like in gaming. They closed a $3 million seed round led by Khosla Ventures in April 2022.

The Edge: Google DeepMind co-founder Mustafa Suleyman, says US should restrict Nvidia AI chip sales to ethical users.
He called for minimum global standards on AI use enforced through export controls.
Suleyman says users should at least voluntarily abide by AI safety pledges to the White House.
Suleyman proposes mandating that consumers of Nvidia processors adhere to these standards, in light of the expansion of export restrictions on AI chips in various regions.
