❤️ Paralyzed Man Moves, Feels Again with AI Chips

A paralyzed patient received the world's first double neural bypass surgery combining AI and implants to restore movement and sensation. After months of preparation, the patient underwent 15-hour awake brain surgery to embed the chips.

How it worked:

Chips in the brain decode signals.
A computer interprets them via machine learning.
Then electrodes stimulate the spine to move while sensors feed touch data back to the brain.

For the first time post-paralysis, he could move and feel again, regaining strength and even experiencing natural recovery!

🏫 Harvard Releases Guidance for AI Use in Classrooms

Yesterday, Harvard's Faculty of Arts and Sciences issued their first public guidance on AI usage for professors on the use of AI in the classroom.

The guidance offers sample language for restrictive, permissive, and mixed approaches rather than mandating one. This affirms faculty ownership over course AI policies based on learning objectives.

Guidance builds on existing University data privacy rules and an imminent AI sandbox for controlled experiments.

Decision Tree

A Decision Tree is a popular machine learning algorithm used for both classification and regression tasks. Visually, it resembles an inverted tree with branches and leaves, representing decisions and outcomes, respectively. At the root and internal nodes, the algorithm asks questions about input data, guiding it down a branch depending on the answer. At the end of these branches, or the 'leaves', lie the predicted outcomes. Imagine it as a flowchart where, based on data features, decisions are made step-by-step until a conclusion is reached. Due to their transparent and interpretable nature, decision trees are favored in situations where understanding the decision-making process is crucial. However, on the downside, they can sometimes overfit to training data, capturing noise and making them less generalizable.
