🚨 Breaking AI News

The Biden administration has announced a new AI Cyber Challenge to incentivize innovation in using AI for cybersecurity defense. With a guaranteed $20 million in total prize money🤯.

The event is sponsored by OpenAI, which endorsed the event today on Twitter (Tweet here). Anthropic, Google, and Microsoft are also AI leaders sponsoring the event. The competition tasks hackers with leveraging AI to protect critical U.S. infrastructure from cyber risks.

Qualifying rounds start in spring 2024, with finals in 2025, where teams can win up to $4 million. The government is requiring all solutions to be open source, which will enable them to make AI systems widely adoptable for key American systems.

Google is exploring how its AI can streamline software development through Project IDX, a “new cloud-based integrated development environment.”

It’s built on Visual Studio Code, and IDX integrates Google's Codey programming AI to provide coding assistance features like smart autocomplete and a chatbot for queries.

IDX competes with similar AI coding tools from GitHub, Amazon, and others. But by building IDX, Google aims to showcase its AI's potential to enhance productivity across the coding workflow, from writing higher-quality code faster to contextual code actions.

Daily Definition

LLMops

'LLMops' stands for 'Large Language Model operations per second.' In the realm of AI, speed and efficiency are crucial. Just like a car's performance can be measured in miles per hour, AI models are evaluated based on how many operations they can perform in a second.

An 'operation' here refers to the basic calculations (like additions and multiplications) the model performs. The more operations a model can do in a second, the faster it can process information and generate responses.

Think of LLMops as a speedometer for AI. It helps researchers and developers gauge how quickly a language model can think and respond. When we hear about advancements in AI hardware or optimizations in software, a boost in LLMops often signifies that our AI models can work more rapidly and efficiently.
